A soldier who supplies bandits with military uniforms and arms has been arrested, the Zamfara government has announced.
Bashir Maru, the Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Bello Matawalle disclosed this to journalists in Gusau on Friday.
Zamfara has been bedevilled with rampant kidnappings and banditry.
Following the release of 279 schoolgirls that were abducted from their school in Jangebe, about 60 villagers have been abducted by bandits in Ruwan Tofa village in Maru Local government area of Zamfara state.
Recall President Muhammadu Buhari banned mining and declared Zamfara a no-fly zone as part of efforts to tackle insecurity in the state.
Major General Monguno, the National Security Adviser recently disclosed that credible intelligence reveals that certain individuals are benefiting from the insecurity in the country.
A repentant bandit also claimed the government provide the criminals with AK-47 to commit crimes.
