The Ugandan Health Ministry on Thursday, December 10, said in a statement that it opted for the Astrazeneca vaccines instead of the Pfizer jabs, adding that it would cover 20 percent of the country’s total population of 45 million people.
“Plans are underway to secure additional doses of the vaccine to cover more people,’’ the ministry said.
The Government noted that it had applied through the GAVI Alliance (Global Alliances for Vaccines and Immunisation) to secure the Astrazeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
The Ministry also warned that the COVID-19 situation in the country is getting worse, urging all residents to follow all preventive protocols.
