I know that we have been told of how great an introduction is, especially during an “ice-breaking” moment. Starting a conversation with an opposite sex, pitching or selling your self or brand etc.

But most times, people introduce themselves to intimidate others, and a school of thought tells us to be the loudest in the room. This is sometimes great but who really are you?

I doubt that when Aliko dangote introduces himself as “the richest black man in Africa” or the CEO of so so and so. Yes Aliko Dangote is a multibillionaire and he has so many accomplishments to himself. But most times we over introduce ourselves all in a bid to appear to be what we aren’t.

So one day, a guy slides into my dm with all his accomplishments (nothing wrong with this) brand strategist, copywriter, business growth catalyst etc

Well two can play that game, being a poet who can play with words. I told him “I am God’s muse”

“Excuse me, But remind me who are you again” asked.

I’m God’s muse, I’m his beloved, the inspiration behind his lovely actions, the reason he killed his only son, the reason why there are beautiful mansions in heaven, the one he gave angels charge over, the reason why the gates of kingdom of darkness won’t prevail….

So next time you give an introduction, think about who you are, the problems you can confidently solve, make it catchy and simple to understand and add to it a touch of humor and say it confidently
