We Had a Minor Disagreement and You Slapped Me,” Actress Ashabi Simple Reportedly to Arrest Her Baby- Daddy, Singer Portable

An altercation involving controversial Nigerian singer Portable (real name Habeeb Okikiola) and his baby mama, actress Ashabi Simple, ( Asabi) sparked public outrage after she allegedly attempted to have him arrested for assault.

The incident occurred at  singer Portable’s bar in Ogun State and was partly captured on video, later circulating widely on social media.

According to actress Ashabi, the confrontation began after  singer Portable called her in a distressed mood and asked her to bring him food to mark the New Year.

She explained that she had initially been celebrating peacefully with her family at her father’s house but agreed to his request and visited the bar.

In a video statement,  actress Ashabi

detailed how singer Portable asked her to meet him outside upon arrival. What she described as a minor disagreement allegedly escalated into violence.

Moreover, she accused him of slapping and beating her, confiscating her phone, and threatening her and her siblings with an axe.

In her words:

“When I got there, we had a minor disagreement and you slapped me, beat me up, seized our phones and threatened my siblings and I with an axe.”

However, the footage from the confrontation shows actress Ashabi emotionally clinging to singer Portable’s clothes while insisting on being recognized as his wife rather than a baby mama.

She was heard saying:

“Oya pami baby, I’m also your wife, you’ve to stop calling me your baby mama… Then you will have to kill me, baby.”

Actress Ashabi reportedly sought police intervention primarily over the alleged assault, threats, and phone seizure. However, the confrontation was deeply intertwined with a long-standing dispute over status and recognition in the singer’s life.

Singer Portable reacted by pushing her away and firmly stating:

“I only have one wife; the rest of you are just baby mamas.”

Subsequently, when police later visited his residence,  singer Portable allegedly evaded arrest. Officers instead encountered his pregnant wife, singer Bewaji, who remains his only legally recognized spouse.

Singer Portable is known as much for his street-hop music as for his recurring controversies, particularly involving relationships and legal disputes.

Actress Ashabi is his fourth baby mama, and their relationship has been publicly turbulent for years. The two share children together, including a recent birth that further complicated their already strained dynamic.

Singer Portable has consistently emphasized that singer Bewaji is his only wife, often crediting her loyalty during his early struggles. In a previously released voice note, he strongly warned actress Ashabi against disrespecting singer Bawaji, framing Ashabi’s continued presence in his life as conditional upon his wife’s approval.

His remarks revealed a clear hierarchy; singer Bewaji as the legitimate partner, and actress Ashabi as someone expected to remain in a limited, subordinate role despite motherhood.

However, this imbalance appears to be at the core of the conflict, fueling resentment and emotional volatility.

On the other hand, singer Bewaji is the legally recognized wife of controversial Nigerian street-hop singer Portable, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola.

While singer Portable frequently dominates headlines for controversies, public outbursts, and relationship disputes, singer Bewaji has remained largely private, earning a reputation as a calm and reserved figure in the singer’s turbulent personal life.

Their relationship predates singer Portable’s mainstream success, and he often emphasizes that his legal wife, singer Bewaji endured hardship with him when there was little recognition or financial stability.

This history forms the basis of why he consistently refers to her as his “real” or “only” wife, despite having multiple baby mamas.

Singer Bewaji is a mother and has been pregnant during several of Portable’s public controversies, including recent incidents involving his baby mamas.

Unlike other figures connected to the singer, she maintains a low public profile, rarely engaging in online drama or public confrontations.

Singer Portable has stated on multiple occasions that singer Bewaji prefers to mind her business and stay away from social media disputes.

Initially, he has also claimed that she must approve his relationships with other women, positioning her as the central authority in his household.

Although  singer Bewaji is rarely directly involved in disputes, her name frequently surfaces during conflicts between singer Portable and his baby mamas.

In several instances, including recent police visits to singer Portable’s home, singer Bewaji has been the one encountered by authorities rather than the singer himself, further placing her at the center of events she does not publicly comment on.

Public Reactions and Divided Opinions

The incident triggered mixed reactions online. Critics of actress Ashabi accused her of attempting to force herself into a wife role, with some describing her actions as desperate or motivated by insecurity and clout-chasing.

Others mocked the situation as yet another episode of “wahala” that frequently surrounds  singer Portable.

On the other hand, many social media users condemned singer Portable’s alleged violence and threats, arguing that no disagreement personal or relational justifies physical abuse.

Supporters of actress Ashabi praised her for speaking out and filing a police report, viewing her actions as a rare stand against mistreatment in a toxic relationship.

The debate highlighted broader societal conversations about gender power imbalances, the emotional cost of non-traditional family arrangements, and how fame can amplify private conflicts into public spectacle.

Beyond the immediate drama, this incident exposes deeper issues surrounding recognition, control, and emotional leverage in relationships involving multiple partners.

Actress Ashabi’s demand to be acknowledged as a wife reflects a struggle for legitimacy, while singer Portable’s response underscores his rigid boundaries and dominance over the narrative of his personal life.

The public nature of the conflict also raises questions about accountability. Singer Portable’s ability to evade arrest, despite serious allegations, reignites discussions about celebrity privilege and the challenges victims face when seeking justice.

This latest episode underscores the ongoing volatility in singer Portable and actress Ashabi Simple’s relationship, revealing how unresolved emotional tensions, power struggles, and public scrutiny can spiral into alleged violence.

As of January 11, 2026, no arrest has been made, but the incident may still carry legal, reputational, and personal consequences.

Ultimately, the situation serves as a cautionary tale about boundaries, responsibility, and the emotional risks embedded in complex, highly publicized relationships.
