WHAT IS YOUR VALUE CARD?

When you go to a new place, your identity card is required for identification, for people to get to know you better.

Identification is not only for the sake of others, but for your sake too. I wrote about this in an earlier content where I spoke about the spark plug, knowing its identity and purpose would know where it is needed and not needed.

Someone said “Purpose is the cure to envy” if only you knew what God wanted you to be, you wouldn’t want to be anyone else.

Knowing your identity comes also with knowing the value you give, because we all have something to offer, it could be negative or positive but no one is without an atmosphere.

Whether you’re a business owner, an individual, a leader, a follower, mentee or mentor, when you know your value card it changes everything.

Here is your Value C.A.R.D

✓Competence
✓Alternative
✓Recipients
✓Demand

Competence:
To be valuable to an audience, you have to be very good at what you do. Let’s pick a satchet water for instance.

When one is selling satchet water, you’re selling value after all you’re quenching the thirst of an audience but satchet water can be impure and have a taste even though it is being bought by Alot of persons.

Can someone carry the satchet water with them, is it handy, is it presentable, is it portable?

Let’s take it a step further, a bottled water has better preparation. It can still be impure but because it went through a higher process, the value increases more than the regular satchet water, we have distilled water (water that has gone through distillation) and ionised water (water that has gone through electrolysis)

Any process added to the water to either make it purer or better makes the water more valuable. And it takes more competence and capacity to take a product or service through a process.

Competence is doing a common thing uncommonly well

Alternatives:

How easily can you, your products or services be replaced.

Do people call on you when they need professional help, advise or are you the second choice after a professional or first choice turns them down.

We are all works in progress and God is helping us all to grow, I know

But restlessness and discomfort in a current state can help you grow. Always be uncomfortable with a current progress or success.

I know how most tertiary institutions in Nigeria detest applicants putting them as second choices, is your absence felt in an organisation, region or location?

Some people can’t risk being offline or unavailable, else people will suffer for it.

Most companies have keymen. A book title is “Be so good that they can’t ignore you” which means if people ignore you, you’re probably not that valuable to them.

When you ignore using your brush for a day, you pay for that neglect with a bad mouth odor. Is there an alternative? Of course Yes.

A mint, a mouth rinse, a chewing stick.

Pay attention to how people patronise you compared to your alternatives (competitors)

Rewarders/Recipients:

Who do you provide value for? Remember the story of the satchet water, many people can easily afford it but can Kings afford to buy it?

Can Kings appreciate your value? Who is in need of the value you give? You should have an audience in mind.

When you offer that product or service you create, do you do it so well to attract kings or you do it just for anybody?

I always tell people “The key to excellence is simple, Do it as unto the Lord”

Distilled water is water prepared for Kings, pure and made to pass through a process, the greater the process to make the water pure, the greater the value placed not on the water but the audience. It takes high esteem for customers to give excellent customer service.

When I wash anything, I wash it as though it belongs to God.

When you create that edible stuff, do you just mix the ingredients or you do it with so much love because of how you esteem the one who would eat it?

Eric Lindell said something “God made me fast, so when I run I feel God’s pleasure”

So he had to win, losing was to hold him in contempt, to disappoint God.

When I write, I know God reads my contents so I’m mindful of my words, my Grammer, my exclamation, and lessons I write so as not to offend God my reader.

Lastly Demand:

How often do people place a demand for you, your product or services. Water is greatly in demand especially in hot regions.

Someone can forfeit a room temperature bottled water for a chilled satchet water

Demand helps you to measure value, which is why most firms have KPI(Key performance Indicators) and social media managers check analytics.

A man of God once said that “if no one asks for his help or calls him for a problem within 24hours, he would go for a retreat” because he would know that he is getting invaluable.

Funny but true.
