Email has become an important mode of communication, and while it may seem like a fairly new mode of communication, email has been around much longer than most people are aware. One of the first email systems was created in 1965 and was used at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Email was not really invented by one specific person, rather it evolved from simple beginnings.

The earliest email was very similar to simply leaving a note on someone’s desk. At first, an email was simply a message that was placed in another user’s file directory, in an area where they would be able to see it when they logged in. The first email system of this kind was the one used at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1965. The system was known as MAILBOX. Another similar program that was used at the time to send messages was referred to as SNDMSG.

Today emails are fast becoming a more recognisable way of communication especially among business owners, employees, professionals and colleagues.

We have different email platforms ranging from that of a company to either yahoo, outlook, Google mail amongst others.

Some people have also made it the habit to check their mails every morning which is good else you lose out on a good deal, business or even a transaction.

But why are emails becoming so popular these days even more than social media, this is because of the advantages that an email has over social media platforms.

A social media platform is seen to be a rented space, we don’t really control what happens in them, for instance sometimes the owner of these platforms can choose to ban your account, or even restrict you from commenting or replying comments or even sending friend requests, there are limits to the kind of words you use and even how you write them.

What if there is a network issue, one time a popular social media account was frozen for hours, imagine if a business owner used only that platform to communicate with his or her customers.

Also a social media account can be hacked and all information that has been exchanged can be stolen for bad purposes, this is also the same way with e-mails though when they are hacked but social media accounts are easier to hack.

Secondly, email marketing are a very good way to market to people because one can easily lose friends, followers, social media fans but it’s easier to send mails and contents to a customer via their email.

Sending emails to customers is really fast, one can send and be sure that the email is delivered as long as there isn’t any hitch or network issues.

Lastly emails can be used for reference purposes and can be used to save files, attachments and messages effectively and efficiently over years without having to worry about the file being corrupted, misplaced or stolen.

Most times issues can arise from customers over words that were said or not said or terms and conditions expressed or implied, the email is a good way to prove your point as one can always see what message or information was passed from the mail thread.

But sometimes checking the mail can be frustrating especially if one has a mail for all purposes, most people have more than one emails, one for personal issues, one for companies/business while another for other purposes.

This helps them to reduce the bulk messages received daily from either spam, individuals and companies. But either one it is, some mail can give you the option to either whitelist certain mails, spam label them and also block and subscribe from certain mail senders.

There are different ways to whitelist an email because sometimes most important emails mistakenly find their way into the spam folder which is why we encourage most people some times to check their spam folder daily so as not to miss out on certain information, privileges and bonus as well.

All one has to do to whitelist an email is to add that email sender to their contact using the settings on their contact, or mark that mail as important by highlighting the email, clicking on the three dots that appears on the upper right of your android device and select either important or change the filter to either personal or business

This act would help the mail provider to recognise that Emil sender as worthy and valuable enough to bring their email to you directly.
