Some days ago I had a hangout with my mentor and we spoke about alot of things ranging from business ideation and development, wisdom, leadership, social media. Then in the midst of his teaching, he told us how he had made some projections about apprenticeships and the creative jobs in the future.

He joked about how it was hard to look for a skilled mechanic these days, and we laughed about it but after the hangout which lasted for over 3 hours🤣

It’s like that when he teaches, we loose track of time, like I was discussing, have we really thought about carpenters, masons, cobblers, plumbers in the nearest future, yes I know that there is this rush to find cash through various online marketing channels and this isn’t bad.

But we must know that not everyone would make their money online, not everybody but I am a big advocate of branding yourself online irrespective of whatever your skill, talent and profession is.

What if in the future, you want to build a house and you found out that the nearest mason close to you is in one village many miles from where you live and the worst part is that he is in his Sixty’s and because he had no apprentice, he has so many jobs waiting so it would take that man about 2 months to finally create time to come meet you, like negotiate.

I spoke with a guy who normally repairs Air Conditioners, and that guy is in his twenty’s but he doesn’t rest, every time he is always working, I know you didn’t see that coming, did you?

He is very excellent at what he does which would bring me to my next sub topic. This A C guy whose name I have chosen to withhold would come to your house, work in your AC and loosen the A.C, wash it and re install it back.

My Dad used to tell me the story of a mechanic, who would always wash cars brought to him to work on before giving them back to their owners, infact most people just came to meet this mechanic for any little fault in their car just so that their car could be washed.

How about adding excellence to that artistry and profession that you do. It doesn’t need to be much, it could be as little as a customized text message wishing them a happy new month, or a drink to entertain them when the customers come to your shop.

In June 2021, a Chinese company built a ten storey building within 28 hours, wow yes! It can be replicated here in Nigeria, we should learn to blend technology into what we do, be innovative, sometimes think like a lazy man.

How can I mix cement and water without having to do anything, how can I build blocks that can last for more than 5 months without even being used.

Is there a better pipe to use for domestic use that can be flexible and durable?

Is there a way I could mend a shoe within seconds without having to open holes by my hands? Most of these professionals and blue collar workers should think smart sometimes.

I saw an advert about how to remove dents from cars, how can one guage a battery quickly, how can one check the oil level of a car without putting the car on or opening the bonnet.

Last time I spoke about being creative even as a scavenger, you mustn’t go about picking refuse, is there a way to sensitize people about dumping refuse so that they could bring it to you directly with happiness.

I heard that in an African country not far from ours that they pay for nylons, the nylons that we get for free from local vendors and retailers is purchased in another african country, Why? So that when you dispose of it carelessly, you know you are losing money… Yes. We dump these nylons everywhere because they are free and we always know we can get a new one.

Think about these things…

I’ll delve on this more as time goes on
