“I Never Asked Anyone To Drop You” Influencer Ashmusy Responds To BBN Phyna Over Multi-Million-Naira Boxing Deal

A proposed celebrity boxing deal has triggered a fresh clash between BBNaija Season 7 winner Phyna and influencer Ashmusy, after Phyna accused Ashmusy of trying to have her removed from the deal. Ashmusy has denied the allegation, saying she only told the organisers that she was uncomfortable fighting Phyna.
Influencer and content creator Amarachi Amusi, popularly known as Ashmusy, has responded to former Big Brother Naija winner Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, better known as Phyna, following a dispute over a reported multi-million-naira celebrity boxing deal. Ashmusy, responding to Phyna’s allegation on Thursday, August 27, 2026, said: “I never asked anyone to drop you, I only told the organizers I wasn’t comfortable fighting with you.” Her response followed Phyna’s public accusation that Ashmusy had allegedly asked organisers to remove her from the deal and replace her with another person.
How the Dispute Began
The controversy revolves around a proposed celebrity boxing event in which Phyna and Ashmusy were expected to be involved.
According to Phyna’s account, the organisers first contacted her in February 2026 about participating in a celebrity boxing fight. She said the original plan was for her to fight a Ghanaian woman, but that arrangement changed after the prospective opponent reportedly had a wedding scheduled for the proposed fight date.
Phyna explained that, during the process, she became involved in helping the organisers identify other personalities who could participate.
She said some of the people contacted were unwilling to accept the proposed financial terms, while others were confident enough to consider fighting her.
The situation changed on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, when Phyna said she suggested Ashmusy to the organisers as a possible opponent.
According to Phyna, the organisers agreed that Ashmusy should be contacted, after which Phyna reached out to her.
Phyna Says She Introduced Ashmusy to the Organisers
Phyna said Ashmusy subsequently asked to be connected directly with the organisers so they could discuss the proposed deal.
She explained that she arranged a three-way conversation between Ashmusy and the organisers, after which Ashmusy requested the organisers’ contact details.
According to Phyna, Ashmusy accepted the proposed arrangement at that stage.
Phyna, however, said that Ashmusy later stopped answering her calls and responding to her messages.
The disagreement reportedly became more serious around Tuesday, August 25, 2026, when Phyna said she learned that Ashmusy was allegedly asking the organisers to remove her from the arrangement.
Phyna claimed that Ashmusy had allegedly indicated that she had another person who could replace her.
Phyna’s account was that this was particularly painful because she had allegedly been communicating with the organisers since February and had been the person who brought Ashmusy into the negotiation only days earlier.
Phyna’s Explosive Reaction
Phyna addressed the matter publicly on Thursday, August 27, 2026, accusing Ashmusy of attempting to push her out of the opportunity.
In her Instagram video, Phyna said:
“Ashmusy, you’re evil. A company reached out to me in February that I should come and fight a Ghanaian.”
She explained that she had become involved in recommending other personalities for the event and that she was the one who suggested Ashmusy’s name.
Phyna said “Last Wednesday, August 19, 2026, I suggested Ashmusy to the organiser. They said no problem, that I should talk to her.”
According to her, after speaking with Ashmusy, the influencer asked to be connected directly with the organisers.
Phyna continued: “After I talked with Ashmusy, she said I should connect her with the organiser. I now went on a three-way call and she asked for their number.”
She alleged that Ashmusy later stopped responding to her before allegedly asking the organisers to remove her.
Phyna said “Now, do you know that since a day before yesterday, Ashmusy has been telling the organiser to drop me, that she has a better person to replace me?”
She further expressed anger over what she described as an attempt to take an opportunity away from her.
“You dey comot food for my mouth, Ashmusy; you are a bad person.”
These were Phyna’s allegations and characterisations; they have not been independently established by the organisers in the reports reviewed.
Ashmusy Gives a Different Account
Ashmusy’s response introduced an important distinction into the dispute.
Rather than accepting Phyna’s claim that she had asked organisers to remove her, Ashmusy said she had only expressed her unwillingness to fight Phyna.
Her statement was “I never asked anyone to drop you, I only told the organizers I wasn’t comfortable fighting with you.”
That statement does not necessarily dispute that Ashmusy communicated with the organisers about Phyna. Instead, it disputes the interpretation of that communication.
In other words, Phyna’s version suggests that Ashmusy’s actions were aimed at getting her removed from the deal, while Ashmusy’s version is that she merely communicated a personal boundary: she did not want Phyna as her opponent.
That difference is significant because refusing to fight someone is not automatically the same as asking organisers to remove that person from an entire commercial arrangement.
A Look At Their Relationship
Interestingly, Phyna and Ashmusy are not strangers.
The two previously appeared together on Phyna’s “Spill with Phyna” podcast in February 2024, where they discussed issues ranging from relationships and personal standards to fashion and lifestyle.
During that appearance, Ashmusy expressed views on women setting standards in relationships, while Phyna also participated in the discussion. Their interaction at the time showed the two personalities engaging publicly without the kind of conflict now surrounding them.
That earlier association makes the current disagreement particularly notable because the latest controversy involves Ashmusy allegedly being introduced to a business opportunity through Phyna.
What To Know About BBN Phyna
Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, became one of Nigeria’s most recognisable reality-TV personalities after winning the seventh season of Big Brother Naija in 2022.
Her victory significantly increased her visibility in Nigeria’s entertainment industry and opened opportunities in brand endorsements, entertainment, social media and other commercial ventures.
Phyna is also known for her outspoken personality and willingness to address controversies publicly.
Her career has not been without commercial disputes and public controversies. In previous years, she has spoken publicly about lost brand opportunities, including a 2023 claim that she had lost numerous deals amid controversies surrounding her public image.
Influencer Ashmusy’s Profile
Amarachi Amusi, professionally known as Ashmusy, is a Nigerian content creator, skit maker, influencer and entrepreneur.
She built a substantial social-media following through comedy and lifestyle content and later expanded into business and other entertainment activities.
Ashmusy has also previously been involved in public controversies relating to her business activities and online image.
Her response to the present controversy is therefore significant because she has chosen to directly challenge the interpretation placed on her actions by Phyna.
Social Media Reactions: Those Supporting Phyna
The controversy has generated mixed reactions online.
Some social-media users have sided with Phyna, particularly because of her claim that she had been dealing with the organisers since February 2026 and personally recommended Ashmusy on August 19, 2026.
Supporters of Phyna argue that if she genuinely introduced Ashmusy to the organisers, Ashmusy should have communicated her concerns directly to Phyna rather than allegedly going around her.
Some also believe Phyna’s anger is understandable because, from her account, she had invested considerable time in the opportunity before introducing another person.
Others focused on the allegation that Ashmusy had a replacement ready, saying that such an action, if proven, would make Phyna’s accusation more serious.
Those Defending Ashmusy
On the other side, some people have defended Ashmusy by focusing on the exact wording of her response.
They argue that “I wasn’t comfortable fighting with you” is not the same as “remove her from the deal.”
For these commenters, Ashmusy had every right to refuse to participate in a fight against someone she was uncomfortable facing.
Some also criticised Phyna for taking the disagreement public before the organisers had clarified what happened.
Others argued that the organisers should be the ones to explain whether Ashmusy actually requested Phyna’s removal or simply expressed a preference for another opponent.
Critics of Phyna
Phyna has also faced criticism over the manner in which she addressed the issue.
Some commentators questioned the decision to publicly describe Ashmusy as “evil” before the organisers had provided their version of events.
Others argued that strong accusations can make it more difficult for both parties to resolve a commercial disagreement privately.
There were also people who felt that Phyna should have first confronted Ashmusy privately and asked for clarification before publishing the allegations.
Critics of Ashmusy
Ashmusy, meanwhile, has also attracted criticism.
Some commentators believe that even if she did not explicitly ask the organisers to remove Phyna, she should have spoken directly with Phyna after deciding that she did not want to fight her.
Others questioned whether telling organisers that she was uncomfortable fighting Phyna could, in practical terms, have affected Phyna’s position in the proposed event.
Critics therefore argue that Ashmusy’s clarification may not completely answer Phyna’s broader complaint about how the situation was handled.
The Real Issue Is Communication
At the heart of the controversy is not simply the proposed boxing match but communication, expectations and business boundaries.
Phyna appears to believe that introducing Ashmusy to the organisers created an obligation of professional loyalty.
Ashmusy’s response, however, suggests that she viewed the matter differently: she was willing to communicate with the organisers but did not want to fight Phyna.
Neither position automatically proves wrongdoing.
A person who introduces another person to a business opportunity may reasonably expect transparency. At the same time, a participant in a boxing event has the right to decide whether they are comfortable facing a particular opponent.
The crucial issue is whether Ashmusy merely exercised that choice or went further by attempting to remove Phyna from the wider opportunity.
Overall, the Phyna and Ashmusy dispute has turned what was reportedly a potentially lucrative celebrity boxing opportunity into a public disagreement over trust, communication and professional boundaries.
Phyna’s version is that she had been involved with the organisers since February 2026, introduced Ashmusy to the opportunity on August 19, and later discovered that Ashmusy allegedly wanted her removed.
Ashmusy’s response is considerably narrower and direct: “I never asked anyone to drop you, I only told the organizers I wasn’t comfortable fighting with you.”
That sentence now sits at the centre of the controversy. Until the organisers or other direct evidence establish what was actually communicated behind the scenes, the fairest conclusion is that Phyna and Ashmusy have given conflicting accounts of the same business dispute. The public can debate their positions, but the missing piece of the story remains the organisers’ version of events.
