Who is Maj Toure?

Maj Toure is an American political activist and rapper. He was the founder of the educational nonprofit organization Black Guns Matter in 2016. The organizations aimed to support the right to keep and bear arms and also encourage responsible ownership of firearms within African-American and urban communities. Maj released Solutionary Vol. 1 rap-hip-hop in 2005, followed by Solutionary Vol. 2 in 2014. Additionally, in 2016 he released Solutionary Vol. 3.

 

In the 2019 elections, Maj was an aspirant for an at-large seat in the Philadelphia City Council. Maj vied as a Libertarian. In support of the Second Amendment bill of rights, Maj urged that criminal justice reform, ending the practice of solitary confinement, legalization of cannabis, improved education in Philadelphia, and conflict resolution training for disconnected youths were supposed to be important.

On November 5, 2019, Maj lost the election where he received 5,676 votes. In February 2019, Maj spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).During a conversation with Lawrence B. Jones Maj commended the grassroots anti-racist protestors who emphasized the importance of black lives. He criticized Black Lives Matter, Inc. for laundering money in order to help Democratic politicians.
